Delhi is really two cities, and this tour lets you pick how much of them you take on. Go for Old Delhi if you want the Mughal monuments and the crush of the bazaars, New Delhi if you are after the wide ceremonial avenues and the big landmarks — or take the full day and do the lot.

Whichever you choose, you get a private air-conditioned car and your own guide, and the Old Delhi and Full-Day options throw in a cycle-rickshaw ride through Chandni Chowk. Meals can be added on; monument entry fees are small and paid at the gate. All three options are set out below.

Day 10 stops
We pick you up from any hotel, residence, or airport across Delhi NCR. Your driver collects you in a private air-conditioned car, and your guide joins you at the first stop and stays with you for the rest of the tour.
Day 2Option A — Old Delhi (5 Hours)4 stops

Red Fort — Photo Stop from Outside
Start at the Red Fort, Shah Jahan’s great red sandstone fortress, finished in 1648 when the Mughal capital shifted from Agra to Delhi. It housed the emperors for nearly two centuries and is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. We view it from outside, so there is no ticket to buy here.
Jama Masjid — India’s Largest Mosque
Next is Jama Masjid, one of the biggest mosques in the country and the anchor of Old Delhi. You will walk the huge courtyard while your guide talks you through its Mughal history. Modest dress is needed, and your guide hands you a head and shoulder cover at no extra cost. Do note the mosque shuts to visitors during prayer times.
Chandni Chowk — Cycle-Rickshaw Ride
Now the fun bit. A cycle-rickshaw takes you into the lanes of Chandni Chowk, one of the oldest markets in the city — past old shopfronts, food stalls and a good deal of noise, with your guide explaining what you are looking at. Included on the Old Delhi and Full-Day options.
Khari Baoli — Asia’s Largest Spice Market
Finish on foot at Khari Baoli, one of the largest wholesale spice markets in Asia, where the lanes are piled with spices, dried fruit, nuts and herbs. Free to walk through, and worth the sneeze.

Booked the Half-Day Old Delhi tour? Your sightseeing ends here and your driver takes you back to wherever you need across Delhi NCR. Booked the Full-Day? You carry straight on with the same guide and car into the New Delhi half below.
Day 3Option B — New Delhi (6.5 Hours)5 stops

India Gate, Rashtrapati Bhavan & Parliament House — Drive Past
You drive past India Gate, the 42-meter memorial to the Indian soldiers lost in the First World War, then on down the ceremonial avenue towards Rashtrapati Bhavan — the President’s official residence — and Parliament House. Your guide covers the architecture and the history of the government quarter as you go. A quick photo stop is sometimes possible, traffic and security permitting.
Akshardham Temple — Modern Sandstone Masterwork
Then Akshardham, an enormous Hindu complex in sandstone and marble, built with traditional craft methods. You will see the main temple and the gardens, with your guide picking out the carvings and explaining what they mean. Entry to the temple and gardens is free.
A Word Before Akshardham
Phones, cameras, bags and any electronics have to be left at the free cloakroom — nothing goes in with you. There is airport-style security, shoes come off, and modest clothing is required. The exhibitions, boat ride and evening water show are not part of this tour.
Meal Break — Connaught Place
Time to eat. Your guide will point you at a good local multi-cuisine place in Connaught Place — take the recommendation or pick somewhere else nearby, entirely up to you. Meals are not in the tour price, but you can add them in advance if you would rather have it sorted.
Humayun’s Tomb — UNESCO World Heritage Site
Humayun’s Tomb is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and arguably the finest Mughal building in Delhi. Walk the formal gardens around the red sandstone mausoleum while your guide traces the line from here to the Taj Mahal.
Qutub Minar — UNESCO World Heritage Site
You end at Qutub Minar, the tallest brick minaret anywhere, standing 73 meters over the old Qutub complex. There is more here than the tower — ruins, a mosque, and the famous Iron Pillar, all covered by your guide.
Fancy the Lotus Temple Instead?
If the Lotus Temple appeals more — the Bahá’í House of Worship built in the shape of an opening lotus, open to everyone — we will happily swap it in for Qutub Minar at no extra charge. Just tell us when you book. One thing to note: the Lotus Temple is closed on Mondays.
Day 4Option C — Old & New Delhi (9 Hours)2 stops

A Combined Itinerary
Option C is a combined itinerary in which you visit both Old Delhi and New Delhi. You get the Red Fort photo stop, Jama Masjid, the Chandni Chowk cycle-rickshaw ride and Khari Baoli, plus the India Gate drive-past, Akshardham Temple, Humayun’s Tomb and Qutub Minar, with a meal break in Connaught Place along the way. The guide, the car and the rickshaw ride run right through.

Important notes for this tour.
- There are three options — Half-Day Old Delhi, Half-Day New Delhi, or the Full-Day combination. Please confirm which one you want when you book.
- Akshardham Temple and the Lotus Temple are both closed on Mondays. If your tour lands on a Monday, we take you to Gurudwara Bangla Sahib and Lodhi Garden instead.
- Monument entry fees are not included and are paid at the gate on the day. Most of the stops on this tour are free to enter anyway.
- The Red Fort is viewed from outside only — the interior is not part of this tour and no ticket is needed.
- Jama Masjid closes to visitors during prayer times.
- At Akshardham, phones, cameras, bags and electronics must go into the free cloakroom. Security screening applies, shoes come off, and modest clothing is required.
- Modest dress is needed at Jama Masjid, and heads should be covered inside Gurudwara Bangla Sahib on the Monday itinerary. Your guide carries head and shoulder covers and hands them out at no extra cost.
- The order of the stops may shift on the day to work around traffic, prayer times, security restrictions and opening hours.
- No “skip-the-line” system exists at the monuments. If any website claims otherwise, that information is incorrect.
- Wear comfortable clothes and walking shoes — there is a fair bit of walking, including narrow and uneven lanes in Old Delhi.
- Photography is fine at most stops; some interiors restrict it or charge a small camera fee.
- Bring a valid photo ID — it may be asked for at the monuments. A clear photo of it on your phone is fine.

Short on time, or drawn to the Mughal city and its markets? Old Delhi. After the grand avenues, Akshardham and the big monuments? New Delhi. Want the whole capital in a day? Take the Full-Day.

Is the Red Fort interior included?
No — the Red Fort is a photo stop from outside, where your guide talks you through its history. The interior is not included and no ticket is needed.

Yes — it is a standard stop on the New Delhi and Full-Day options. If you would rather see the Lotus Temple, we will swap it in at no extra charge. Just ask when you book.
