Delhi is where almost every India journey begins, and it is where ours began too — the first tours we put online in 2009 left from Delhi hotels for the Taj Mahal, and they still do every morning. The capital is really two cities: Old Delhi, Mughal and crowded and wonderful, with Jama Masjid, the Red Fort and a cycle-rickshaw ride through the lanes of Chandni Chowk; and New Delhi, wide and green, with India Gate, Humayun's Tomb and the Lotus Temple.

Because Delhi sits at the top of the Golden Triangle, it is also the most practical base in northern India. Agra and the Taj Mahal are three and a half hours away on the Yamuna Expressway — or a hundred minutes by express train — and Jaipur is around five hours by road. That geography is why our sunrise Taj tour leaves Delhi at 2:30 AM, and why the 3-day Golden Triangle is our best seller.

   Can I see the Taj Mahal in one day from Delhi?

   Yes — it is the tour we have run longer than anyone in India. Expect eleven to thirteen hours door to door by car, less by express train. Sunrise departures leave Delhi around 2:30 AM; daytime departures leave around 6:00–7:00 AM.

   How far is Delhi from Agra and Jaipur?

   Agra is about 230 km, three and a half hours by road, or around a hundred minutes by express train. Jaipur is about 270 km, roughly five hours by road, or a little over four by train.

   Do you collect from Delhi airport?

   Yes, from all three airports serving the capital — Indira Gandhi International, Hindon, and Noida International at Jewar — at no extra cost. Layover travelers regularly see Agra between flights; share your flight times when booking.

   Is one day enough for Delhi itself?

   One full day covers the essentials of both Old and New Delhi at a relaxed pace. If you have only half a day, choose Old Delhi for atmosphere or New Delhi for the monuments — both are on the Old & New Delhi tour.
